Two nights, four dishes, 300 guests and one well-versed host: We were honored to have the one and only Gaz Oakley to celebrate our new issue 6 at the Freunde von Freunden Space in Berlin Kreuzberg. Here's the recap!

When it became obvious we would have vegan chef and rising youtube star Gaz Oakley aka Avantgarde Vegan on the cover of our issue 6, we immediately started plotting: What kind of event would be able to create around Gaz and the release of the new issue? Well, a cooking show, obviously and just for the heck of it (and since the first night sold out in a day), we just made it two in a row. Throwback to a weekend packed with firsts, new experiences and a premiere for the team – and great food by one friend of the family Gaz Oakley.

When we found Friends Space in an epic Berlin backyard loft, we knew we had the perfect location for a night of cooking and hanging out with Mr. Oakley and his gang, with enough space to host our guests and to celebrate our collaborative work in style.
"We made time to roam the city for some great eats."
Gaz wouldn't be Gaz if he wouldn't have made good use of his time in the city. Not only did we film for an exclusive clip for Vegan Good Life that will premiere on this website soon, we also made time to roam the city for some great eats and squeezed in a couple workouts before making our way to the location and get ready for the first of two nights of back to back cooking shows.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this event happen. To Tim and Wenke for putting it all together, to Aglaja & Florian for the stunning photos, Isa, Felix and Boy for their amazing camera work, Nico for impromptu yoga sessions and the adidas hookup – and obviously to Gaz, Marcus & Tom for being amazing humans.
A special thank you for their kind support goes to our friends at Veganz, ProVeg, Schoppe and Fritz Kola. Thanks so much!
Where do you want us to come next?
So, do we want Gaz to come back to Berlin in 2020? Or what other city would be a good location for an upcoming VGL x Avantgarde Vegan get-together?
