By teaming up with designer twin sisters Anette & Daniela Felder, the Spanish brand and new-kid-on-the-eco-block Ecoalf brings out a capsule collection of all-vegan and sustainable winter coats. We met the creatives for a quick photoshoot in their own creations and had the chance to ask them a couple questions.

Ecoalf, founded with the goal to shape the future of fashion, is known for the great selection of recycled materials. The company’s goal is “create the first generation of recycled products with the same quality, design and technical properties as the best non-recycled products”.
While that’s the kind of mission we’re all aboard for, Ecoalf does use real down and other animal derived products here and there throughout their (enormous) line – so we were thrilled to learn about the collaboration with dedicated vegan designers Felder Felder.
“After travelling for some time and modelling to finance our adventures, we realised that we prefer to be in the creative process instead of modelling others people’s creations in front of the camera. Therefore, we decided that we want to study Fashion. We went on to study at the renowned Central St Martins in London and started our fashion career from there in 2006. We first did catwalk collections like everyone else, but when we became aware that the fashion industry is a highly polluting industry, we turned our whole brand around and started to work on sustainable projects instead of rushing season after season which is not very sustainable.”
The capsule collection of winter coats with Ecoalf came about in Miami, where Anette was invited to speak at a sustainable fashion summit – and met Ecoalf founder Javier Goyeneche. “We were actually big fans of Ecoalf before we met them and put them as one of our favourite collaborators on our mood board.” When Anette and Javier met, there was “a mutual connection through our shared values immediately, and we decided we should be doing a collaboration together pretty soon after that.”
Although Ecoalf is not a vegan brand,
they were super excited to explore this route with us
“When we started to work on our coats, the subject of the down filling came up, and we immediately said that we need to find a vegan solution. Although Ecoalf is not a vegan brand, they were super excited to explore this route and were more than supportive to find a solution where we will be all satisfied.”
Finding that solution turned out to not be the easiest thing in the world. “In the beginning, the production was a bit troublesome,” Daniela remembers. “We did quite a few trial runs, and the first ones were actually a bit worrying,” she chuckled. “But in the end, we got there. The material we use for our filling is recycled poly down filling, for which we explored different weights and also different techniques to put them in, and eventually we achieved the look we desired.”
“For us, it’s a priority to stay true to our design aesthetic, we don’t compromise on that,” Daniela explained. “It’s made for people who want to be stylish while being conscious – that’s our dream customer, I guess.”
